
BIOGRAPHY
Jonathan Beutler has a passion for public service and public libraries. In fact, his first job as a teenager was at the information desk of his local library! Previously, Jonathan served as Los Angeles County Library Commissioner, appointed by unanimous vote of the County's Board of Supervisors. Earlier, he also served as a Beach Commissioner in Los Angeles County, representing the coastal communities of the Fourth District.

A former U.S. diplomat, Jonathan has broad experience in both the public and private sectors. In addition to having served in the United States Department of State, he has worked in the local business community in the South Bay for many years, having served as Chairman of the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce and President of the Harbor City Harbor Gateway Chamber of Commerce, in addition to his service as an active volunteer in local schools. He has built strong relationships across civic, business, and nonprofit sectors, fostering collaboration and economic growth. Committed to serving the public good, Jonathan leverages his expertise to advance community programs, promote local business development, and strengthen connections between government and the community.
Jonathan holds graduate degrees in Hispanic Literature from the University of Barcelona and in Public Policy from UCLA, and has completed fellowships with the Anti-Defamation League, the German Marshall Fund, and the U.S.-Spain Council. He has long been committed to promoting stronger ties between diverse countries and communities.
